In this video, I wandered around MBK Mall, also known as MBK Center or Mahboonkrong. If you’re wondering why there’s no logic to my journey around the mall it’s because my general tactic [when mall shopping] is to walk around in circles until I either find what I’m looking for or lose interest and leave the place.
I was sort of looking for some t-shirts and jeans. In the end, I didn’t buy any t-shirts as they didn’t have what I was looking for. I think that I’ll need to wait until more of the stalls/shops are opened up. Some new pairs of jeans though will be bought on another trip soon. I like the shop at 28:50 as their prices are good. Plus they’ll fit the jeans to whatever your specifications happen to be.
MBK Center is slowly coming back to life but there’s still a long way to go until it’s anywhere close to ‘normal’.
During this walk my gimbal was [again] being thoroughly uncooperative and, several times, it really didn’t want to point in the direction I wanted it to. My apologies.
Note. I’m still waiting for a more stable backpack clip for my wearable gimbal to come in the post. Are the Chinese company that’s sending it using a donkey to make the delivery to Bangkok? The time it’s taking I could walk to China and pick up the bloody thing…
Before I close, a couple of fun facts about MBK.
– MBK was the largest shopping mall in Asia when it opened in 1985.
– MBK Center management reports daily visitor numbers of more than 100,000, half of whom are young Thai people and a third foreign visitors. (It’s a fascinating place for people-watching).
